If there’s flowing water… did you have a sprinkler or other irrigation system at some point?

Has anyone in your household ever subscribed to Spice 1 or 2?

Does it smell?
It could be the pipe from your house to the d box for your septic
Run the shower or flush the toilet a few times see if water comes out of it

If it’s sewerage you know!

I would bet it’s part of the trash pit. When building , some contractors dig a pit to bury the trash and scrapes in. Saves a dump fee.

Looks like siding? Similar to your houses?

In your third picture, that piece that is closest to the bottom of the frame, does it have two slits in it.? Also, does it seem like semi-rigid metal? I can’t tell from the picture but it doesn’t seem like a pipe. It seems like flat metal. If so, that is landscape edging. Usually has a couple of spikes driven in to hold it together. Let me look for an example.

It seems very shallow. Could the previous owner have run his rain gutters out through that to get it away from the house?

Also of note, you’re digging next to cattail wetlands which is a huge huge no no, that area is likely protected

Do you have a sump pump? I can see your downspouts aren’t burried, if its not septic then my money is on sump pump. If no sump pump best bet is keep digging and see where she leads
