Ultimate Backyard Refresh: Patio, Garden & New Fence Transformation

Your girl was in here making. Y’all, your girl’s back here growing sweet potatoes. And I even have no intentions. Y’all look at this. Y’all can’t tell me. That’s a sweet potato, right? Y’all look. It’s hard, too. Like, I want to cut into it and see if it’s orange already. But then I’m just thinking, [Music] hey family, welcome back to my channel. Hey, Maisha Renee. I’m in the backyard as usual these days, you guys. And I’m just working in the yard. The grass is looking good. The garden is flourishing, you guys. The flowers and everything like that. I just need to clean up, you guys, because behind the scenes has got a little messy. And I don’t want to keep circling back around, you know, with us doing the grass and, you know, constantly planting and things like that and buying supplies to keep everything up. Y’all, it got a little chaotic and this kind of became my area to just drop. So, I just want to just go ahead and clean this area up today and put things where they need to go and just get a little more organized. And I may plant a few plants today and we’ll see whatever else I can get done, y’all, because I have so much to do. But look, just checking in with y’all, keeping y’all in the loop. So, um, stay tuned. And if you’re new to this channel, welcome home, family. Look, let’s get to working, y’all. [Music] So, let me just show you guys because it’s not a super mess, but it is just a little chaotic and it can get out of hand. I still need to power wash because we still have just dirt from all of the top soil that we had to use for the grass. You guys, the grass is looking beautiful. But mainly this area. Let’s go ahead and just clean this up a bit and get organized. You know, stuff like this table’s a little nasty. Nothing crazy though. And then we have all these flowers, you guys. Oh my goodness. I just get so excited. I bought so many, but they need to get in. Check out the garden wall. It’s doing good. So, wait, while I’m at it, let me show you guys. Y’all look at the roses, y’all. Remember I was like, I hope I get roses. Y’all, did your girl get roses or what? Y’all, oh my goodness, you guys. I did it. So beautiful. Wow. Look from that angle. That’s beautiful. Okay, so we’ll get these guys watered. Still need to figure out where I’m going to place those. We’ll get everybody watered. Still got to clean off this ground area. The table. Need to dump dump that. And then our trash bin as well. These are all of our solar lights. They all still work and so I will be placing them maybe later today. So the wind for some reason out of nowhere decided to come in. So I wanted to go ahead and spray off the patio area but I don’t know how that’s going to work you guys because I just don’t want to get splashed with a bunch of water. Um and it’s just feeling a little cool. Oh gosh, this weather is so weird. But look, I got the area pretty much taken care of. I just need to just like wash off this stuff. And then my husband picked up all of the um dirt and everything for me. Like we had the piles of um top soil that was here. So he got all that up, hauled it out for me. Um I just need to just go ahead and move this cuz he didn’t know if I wanted to keep that or not. I wanted to go ahead and spray the sidewalk down, but I don’t know y’all. over with all the wind, y’all. I’m going to really have to cut it short, but I’m just going to at least spray off this table. The wind’s blowing that way, so I’ll spray that way. But oh my gosh, I literally was like on to something, y’all. [Music] like if it keeps up. I know the wind’s going to blow some of the stuff around, but I mean like I have like sitting like little piles of like little dirt that just gets sprayed into this area that I just want it gone. [Music] All right, I quit. I try y’all. It’s like every time I spray the wind just like cranks up. So, I don’t know. [Music] And I am getting ready to do like a pot recipe, plant recipe. Look, you know, they are called so many things, but what I’m doing is I’m calling it, y’all, my little fruit bowl because I’m just putting whatever I want in there and making it fabulous, y’all. To my liking. Okay, so y’all look to start it off with super tunias, you guys. These are Jasper, you guys. Yes, Jaspberry. Super tuna vista. Proven winners, you guys. And oh my god, they’re so beautiful. I wanted some super tunias so bad, y’all. I’ve been wanting super tunas for a long time. I love patunias, but every time I went to buy super patunias, they’re either all gone and it wasn’t the color that I wanted. So, y’all look. And I love jasberry. So, it’s so pretty. It’s already doing very well, you guys. It was only $10.98. That’s a really good price, y’all. So, definitely cannot wait to put this in this thing right here, you guys. It can get up to 36 in long, and I think it’s like 15 in tall. Um, let’s see if I’m saying that right. Not long, but width. So, in height, y’all, 15 in and in width, 36 in. This is a beast, y’all. And I cannot wait to just make it amazing. So, my plan, right, is I have these super cute little round planters, you guys. I have been looking everywhere for these. Every time I would go to like my local like little um Home Depot, Lowe’s, I didn’t find them. They didn’t have them or they were expensive. So, look at you guys. Really nice size. I think it’s like 20 or 22 in. I’ll put in the description the link. If you’re interested, you can go ahead and check them out. But I mean, I think this is perfect because I’m going to put them on top of my wine barrels, which I think is going to be fabulous if it grows really, really long. And I’m also thinking about staining my wine barrels, you guys. So, nothing really crazy. Just deepening the color just a little bit because I like the natural oak on it. But um the rain did kick its butt a little bit, but not too much. So, it needs to be cleaned off as well. So, I will be staining that probably um later on this week. Um and then we’re going to not only do this one, but I have my other wine barrel. I’m going to do a fruit bowl over there as well. So, I just haven’t figured out what the mix that I’m going to do, but I’m thinking something like orange and pink. I don’t know. So, stay tuned for that, y’all. Y’all know I go a little crazy. And then I’m going to add sweet potato vine for a little accent with it. I love the lime green on the sweet potato vine vines. But y’all, I had to show y’all this really quick. So y’all know I have my little pots from last year when I cut my wine barrel in half. You guys can check that video as well if you’re interested on how to cut a wine barrel in half yourself. So I have that video. But you guys, I have one over here. I have one over there. So they still need to be cleaned out and then made to something, you know, fabulous as well. But this is really cool, y’all. These sweet potato vines survived everything, okay y’all? With no water or nothing. Just like when the rain every now and then would come through and they’re Look, they came back and everything, you guys. But the cool part, right, cuz I’m just like, let me dig this out because this one is already doing really good. This will go really good with the super tonas and it can keep up, you know, because it’s already, you know, doing its thing. But so I’ll clean it off, of course, and all that stuff. But yeah, I think this sucker was trying to make a sweet potato. They said that s that um sweet potato vines when you buy them in the store are not supposed to bear fruit. That’s what I was told are bare vegetables. But um y’all look at the vines. They’re already like red, right? And I’m just pulling right because the vines are super strong. I’m like, “Come up. Come on. Come up. Come up.” Y’all look at this. But y’all look at this. Y’all, your girl was in here making Y’all, your girl’s back here growing sweet potatoes and I even have no intentions. Y’all look at this. Y’all can’t tell me that’s a sweet potato, right? Y’all look. It’s hard, too. Like, I want to cut into it and see if it’s orange already. But then I’m just thinking, I don’t know, y’all. What should I do? Because I think that’s really cool. I got a whole little sweet potato. Y’all, I was growing sweet potato over there and I had no idea. I think I need to go in there and dig up under that dirt, y’all. I might have me a whole big old yam up in there or something. I need to go see what is going on, y’all. This is something, right? I had to put this on my Instagram page. God be playing all in my garden. I’m going to tell y’all right now. Okay, so here’s our little area. I’m going go ahead and get some soil in here. Nothing fancy. Just something to get in here. I got some extra miracle grow bags left. So, we’re going to go ahead and just get that in there. Use it up. stood up really nice. This is like maybe 34 of a bag, y’all. Not a complete bag. So, let’s see. This is a really big bag, so will not be any left in that, y’all. [Music] We’re told are so cute, y’all. All right, y let’s see. We’ll give it a little I think I’m not going to put that sweet potato vine in there, y’all. Just going to use the ones I bought as young. I just got a feeling that I want to keep that out and we can just, you know, have two. So maybe I’ll do one on each side. But I just know this is going to get really big. Thinking one may be enough. I don’t know. I might do another one. But I have this fern to the deal. So I’m like maybe I could just throw the fern behind it. But I think the super tonia will I don’t know if the super tonia will flow over, you know. I think that’ll look so pretty. They just come down. But if I was able to get the something from both sides, I don’t know. We throw it in there. My ferns are forever making babies, so why not go ahead and do something cool with it and just look see what happens. But if this sucker was to get that big, I’m that happy. So, whatever. I definitely think this would be good. I could see putting another on this side. Another sweet potato vine. It may take over, it may not. Right. Let’s get another one [Music] because they need to get in the dirt. So, cuz that would be really pretty. And but I mean this thing is going to get massive if I do my part. Yeah, we going with that. Okay. [Music] And clearly Jazzy is the star of the show. She got roots already coming out the bottom. And once again, this is Jasberry, you guys. Super Tuna Vista. Look at all those good roots. You know she ready to get down. Look at that. This girl ready to play. So, loosen her up a little bit. Just a little. And I have my drain hole open. So that way it’ll have good drainage. [Music] And if I lean it, then she can kind of grow that way and reach for the sun as well. Okay. And I want her to go crazy. So, she takes over this container. I am totally totally happy with that. Let’s get Rapunzel effect going on here. This is a really nice size container, too. Really happy with this one. Yeah. Here we go. And then here’s our sweet potato line. just get the little old pieces off cuz I’ve had it in this container for already probably I bought it probably oh my gosh y’all maybe 3 weeks ago might be going on a month. So let’s get them in the container. Okay, just cutting off any of the little dead leaves. No point of you wasting energy on that. [Music] Okay. Are you messing with my mind? Yeah. First you tell me that you’re all then you say you need some time lately. It’s been really confusing. I just can’t understand. [Music] I’m liking it. Okay. Cuz it’s going to go crazy. a fruit. I’m pretty sure though I’m pretty good with patunias. So, super tuna, please show me love raspberry. Jaspberry, please be good to me. So, y’all look, I’m going to go ahead and just stick these back here. These came from all of my little um fern little babies. Can’t start from one plant. Now, I have one, two, three, four. Look, starting five, y’all. I probably got a couple other little ones around here. So, we just going to add to the back. Hopefully, it can get tall and be a nice framing or just for the back part of it, you know? Let’s see. Let’s just have some fun with it. And I feel with gardening, you guys, you should always enjoy it. Of course, if you’re growing food, you want to, you know, follow the rules a little bit more and, you know, be careful this and watch out for space for that. But you guys, with flowers, especially especially annuals like the um super tuners are annuals. If you get lucky, they come back. But um you know, the sweet potatoes and these ferns, they’re perennials. But have fun, y’all, with the annuals. Have fun with them because look, I feel like what’s more fun than being a little garden fairy, y’all. Let’s go ahead and just put this in the back. Hopefully do it thing. But I’m pretty sure y’all, Jasberry going to take over the show. She going to steal the show and it is going to be what it’s going to be. And I’m going to be happy all about it. She going to be the Beyonce and that’s going to be good. So, but in the meanwhile, maybe, just maybe, everyone hangs in. I’m hoping that the sweet potato vines just vine down and there’s plenty of room for the super tuna to spread back here as well. Hopefully, she goes around all sides and this becomes something amazing, y’all. All right, dirt’s in my nails, y’all. Nail cam. Dirty nails, y’all. We’ll go ahead and give her a little water and um probably put just a little bit of fertilizer. I’m gonna go around and give my um plant some fertilizer today that are already in the garden. So, we’ll give her a little drink, too. And yeah, Rubo. All right, y’all. So, I have this snap dragon. I’m going cut this elephant ear piece off first, y’all. It’s driving me crazy. I have this Snapdragon that returned from last year as well. But it’s just getting overshowered by the burn. So that’s fine. I’m going move it. Little control. Looks a lot better. [Music] Still got to get all this stuff off. We’ll peel all that later. Yeah, there you are. [Music] Let’s go ahead and get this dragon so that we soil so soft. Oh, great. It’s just perfect. It’s really tall. I thought it was a weed at first, y’all. So, it’s not, but it’s Snapdragon. All right. So, since I just pulled out that um Snapdragon that was growing in the back of the fern, I’m think I’m going to go ahead and put it just back here behind this, y’all. And then we’ll see what happens because it’s super tall. I don’t know because now I’m looking at I don’t know you guys. I mean it’s a controlled environment, right? So it can’t go too crazy. Yeah. I’m just looking at the one that came back last year. It is huge. I don’t know. [Music] La. [Music] I mean, it’s starting to have like a little bud already. Let me move this out the way. Nah, I think no. The more I look at it, it’s looking a little I don’t know. Once the Super Tony gets big, it’d probably be nice to have a couple, but I just know that they can get really heavy. So, they may lean the wrong way because y’all look at this one over here. Can y’all see it way back over there? Of course, it’s in the ground. though how beasty she is able to become. And I’m thinking that maybe I should give her her full opportunity as well and then stick her in the dirt as well and then let her be a star. All right, we’ll pull her out. Y’all tell me if y’all think I should have kept her in cuz I look I go get her and bring her back. But I think I will go get a little more just a little piece of fern another one to stick back there. So, we’ll put her in some dirt. So, we’re going to go ahead and get little pieces of the fern so I can put that in there, too. So, let’s see, y’all, what we can find in here. [Music] la. Okay, y’all. So, let’s just just going to plop them right in here. [Music] This one’s really big, y’all. Yes. [Music] Maybe just take this one out. I don’t know cuz this one is so grand. All right y’all. So I’m super happy with the outcome. I cannot wait to see it grow and just turn into something amazing y’all because I mean the specs and like I said 36 in wide the super tuna y’all this not even so I’m hoping that it just takes all the way down but if it was to just like y’all my heart would be so full. So, with the sweet potato vines, they are also known to get like 36 in long. So, that would be cool, too, for it just to just flow over um the fern since it goes upright, I’m hoping that it continues to do well in here and then it will give it a nice backdrop. But, I love it, you guys. Um let me know what you guys think. Um I gave it a little fertilizer as well, just some liquid fertilizer because I’m going to go around and fertilize um my rest of my plants right now in ground. And I’m super excited, y’all. So stay tuned for the next um pot that I do, my next fruit bowl, y’all. So we’ll see what I’m going to do with that one. But this one, y’all, let’s watch it grow. All right, you guys. I’m going to put some of these merry gold in here. I just feel like some orange will be so nice. I’ll be the first to tell you that they look nice from here. Just a little touch of orange. this beautiful pink. But then everyone just like here and there, you know, la [Music] Don’t do [Music] la. Thanks for watching. Um, make sure you hit the subscribe button and if you’re new to this channel, welcome home family. So excited. [Music] [Applause] [Music]
