Now this isn’t quite right for an African milk tree is it? Rotted?

Suspected this has been rotting for a while now cause it stayed wet for weeks. I took cuttings but they’re not rooting.

It’s literally a tree bigger than me that’s about 6 years old but oh well

How interesting. It appears as if it’s rooting itself through the rot, but that’s madness, so I’m curious as what other people speculate is going on.

In my experience with this plant, once the cuttings have properly calloused they’ll root faster if they’re planted and lightly bottom watered. I’ve waited months on unpotted cuttings to make some roots, only for them to do it fairly rapidly when given very slightly damp media to sit in.

That base is mushy and tragic. Cut above the rot, let it callus, and repot like you’re giving it witness protection.

It’s almost like it air layered through its rot

This tree is literally air layering itself. Life uh… finds a way?

  6. id say dont cut it. Just maintain it dry for now and let it root itself. It seems like its handling matters in its own roots!
