Hi y’all! This is a picture of the compost in my backyard tumbler that has been sitting there for a year- from about Sept last year until now- through the heat of summer, a we have consistently turned it. We have an other bin we’ve been adding to and just letting this one sit.
What can I do to help this one breakdown more? Should I move it to a different kind of bin? Please break it down for me.
We live in an urban neighborhood so space is limited.
Thank you!!!!

My compost looks similar, would love to know the next step to get it more “garden-ready”
It looks fine, id go ahead and use it!
The only thing that isnt broken down seems to be the egg shells, but thats not an issue – they breakdown slowly and will continue to do so in the ground.
If you put it through a screen it would look great. It’s ready. You can use it as is too. Also putting it in a bin to dry out makes it easier to amend like potting mix or cover soil the clumps break up easier
Grind and sifting time, but you probably don’t need to do that/it should go pretty quickly in theory
Profit?
Seriously tho, I’d buy it.
The egg shells will continue to dissolve slowly. Tomatoes love them.
If it’s too gloopy, add some sawdust. But just enough to get it to the desired consistency
If you have squirrels in your yard they’ll probably root around and inspect it once it’s on the ground. If you’re planting anything let them do their digging first then plant. Otherwise they may claw at whatever you planted
