Back in late May a neighbor posted that she was moving & left all her plants in the driveway free for the taking. Naturally I went and took a bunch 😆 I had been wanting an alocasia!! This bisma was looking really sad- she had root rot and the leaves were browning/crispy/spotted. A couple fell off. I removed the rot and potted down with a chunky mix and found a loose corm. So I pulled it out and stuck it in moss in a plastic baggie. Worst case scenario if mom dies I can start over!

But then, one day….I noticed some new growth! Before long she pushed out this HUGE leaf (third pic is with the next oldest leaf). Then the corm began to sprout. Now mama & baby are happy and I feel so much joy in nursing them. If my old neighbor is in here, don’t worry girl. Your plants are going great.

Since this is my first alocasia… I have heard they are really hungry fellows. Any recommendations for a fertilizer and schedule? Now that it’s acclimated to my home I want to make sure it stays thriving.
