Basically the question on the title. What would you suggest to break down or cut this central root system in smaller pieces, so they are lighter and more manageable for discard.
The pool excavator found it, and it is currently sitting on my front yard. I want to get rid of this before the city fines us. Root can only be moved with escavator/bobcat. I think it is well over 500 lbs.

Makes a nice decoration I think, if you find the right place for it. And it’ll go away on it own given long enough
If you are allowed, place in a fire pit and burn it.
Chainsaw
Stump grinder.
Someone in woodworking may come take it for free if you posted on marketplace or facebook. Otherwise just go to town with a chainsaw
I wonder if a private company could use a stump chewer to reduce the size of the thing, and make it easier to haul away. Or if they could cut it up with chain saws, and take the pieces…
big ass chainsaw
Move it to a place that looks cool in your yard- you should be able to drill holes and plant succulents in it.
Burn.
Lol, in my area people might pay money for weird eccentricity like this. I would place in an obscure corner of the yard, get a nice doorknob size drillbit, and make some plantar holes all over the thing. Plant in somw weeping thyme or other herbs, mosses, tall wavy grasses in the center, small circular pockets of lettuces or chards … man oh man. What a cool find.
Dice it up with a chainsaw. Then send it out to the trash Shawshank style (hopefully you get the reference) hopefully you don’t end up needing a stump grinder.
looks like a job for a grinder
They’re is a ton of dirt in there so a chainsaw will just go dull instantly. Have a beer and go at it with a sawzall and a pry bar for an hour or 2 and there shouldn’t be much left of it
Build a fence around it, fill with dirt. Raised garden effect.
First put it on FB marketplace for free.
Someone may solve your problem for you.
If not chainsaw is the way unless you have a stump grinder.
Put it in the street and tell the city someone dumped it there.
look for a local sawyer that mills for furniture makers. That big knarly stump would make some pretty nice live edge slabs for coffee tables etc. I’m a sawyer and that is gold to me. I get very large logs given to me just to get them out of the way.
Likely there are little stones embedded in crevasses. It’s gonna cost you at least one chain if you use a chainsaw.
Hire a stump grinder.
If you got a pollinator garden, plop that baby in it. Those stumps are fantastic wildlife habitat for solitary bees in particular.
Mushrooms
fill it with mushroom mycelium
Post this in wood working and someone will show up to haul away the burl. That’s a very valuable piece.
You could stage that in a very interesting way. Maybe drill out some holes to turn it to a planter. Seems nice enough to do something with by someone
If I could move 500lbs I’d come get it
Looks like a witch, and what do we do with witches?
