Peter Harrison has been given backdated planning permission by Blackburn with Darwen Council for the work at his property Four Shillings in Blacksnape Road.

It involves the change of use of the area to the rear of the house to a residential garden.

Permission is also given for fencing, small-scale timber decking, hardstanding areas and an outbuilding.

A planning officer’s report said: “At the time of the case officer’s visit, it was noted works had commenced and therefore the application is retrospective.

“The land subject to the application is within the ownership of the applicant.

“The scale of works proposed are considered minor within the context of the Green Belt and would not conflict with the openness of the Green Belt.

“Further, the garden extension would be consistent with adjoining gardens to neighbouring dwellings and thus form a consistent approach in the locality.”
