The plant stand is made from a branch of a sweet gum tree that had a vine wrapped around it. The story is that my grandpa watched it grow for years until 1965 when he decided it was time to cut it off. They didn’t have sandpaper so they used broken glass Coke bottles to scrape off the bark and steel wool to smooth it out.
The plant was a gift to my grandma when she was pregnant with my mom in 1970. Over the years she’s let it grow wild and touch the floor, but she recently repotted it and trimmed it back.

oh my goodness that stand is gorgeous
Wow!! Gorgeous
I’m worried about sunlight on that beautiful wood .
That is absolutely a fabulous stand and even more beautiful that grandma blessed you with it👏 😍.
That plant stand is marvellous! 🤩
The stand is much more alluring than the plant, hehe
Very cool! That stand is just awesome! The coolest one I’ve seen in a long time 🙂 Your new plant? Doesn’t look a day over 10! Idk how often grandma re-potted her pothos plant, but since it’s still summer, you can take it outside to flush out the soil (don’t spray the plant hard, just push leaves back to get the soil). Flushes out any older mineral build-up. Makes the soil happier. Leave it in the shade to drain/dry the pot and bring back in. Next spring, cut back a few older leaves, repot. Bc of the plants age, if you pop a small moss pole or decorative wood slab in a spot where there’s new growth, she will climb, and her leaves can become huge!
Check out “pothos air roots” and “how to make my pothos climb a moss pole”.
She is lovely and healthy <3 I’m very happy for you!
