Adam Frost has revealed that he’s given his “posh” BBC Gardeners’ World co-star Monty Don an amusing two-word nickname. A well-known figure in the world of gardening, Adam has cemented his status as a fixture of the beloved programme over the years.
Indeed, his expertise has even led to a number of awards, including gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show.
On Gardeners’ World, he shares the screen with other well-known horticultural contributors, including figures such as Carol Klein, Frances Tophill, Nick Bailey, and Rachel de Thame.
Of course, the BBC show wouldn’t be complete without its main presenter, the ever-popular Monty Don, who took over the reins from the legendary Alan Titchmarsh in 2003. It appears that he and Adam sometimes share a bit of playful banter.
In a recent chat with Helen Nugent, the editor of Northern Soul, Helen disclosed that she refers to Monty as “Sir Monty of Don” in her writing, prompting Adam to reveal he calls him “His Lordship”.

In a light-hearted jab at Monty, he added: “I joke that the great British public get a little bit of posh and a little bit of rough.”
Monty, who recently turned 70, was honoured on the official Gardeners’ World social media channels with a sweet post. It dubbed him “living proof” that gardening “keeps you young”.
In the post, a photograph of Monty with his dog, Ned, accompanied the words, and the presenter was quickly inundated with celebratory messages. One fan said: “A very happy birthday to the most genuine presenter on the BBC.”
In other news, Adam affectionately called his wife Sulina “controlling” as he revealed that she has a specific complaint about him. His comments came in an interview with Round and About Magazine last month.
He detailed the role of his grandparents, both of whom had nicknames, “Tidy Nan” and “Scruffy Nan”, in his life. Adam described Tidy Nan as a “bit of a control freak”, while Scruffy Nan lived a more “bohemian existence” at the weekends.

When asked which one he was more like, he said: “In my behaviour patterns, Mrs Frost would say I’m on the Scruffy Nan side. Hopefully, my nature I’m on Tidy Nan side, so yeah, a bit of both.
“I don’t think I’m as scruffy as Mrs Frost thinks I’m scruffy, to be honest, but then, she’s a bit like Tidy Nan. She’s a bit controlling, and everything has its place and this, that and the other.”
He added that they have “moments” in their household before noting that his four children, Abi-Jade, Jacob, Amber-Lily, and Oakley, are “mixed” and that he has “some tidy” and some “not so tidy” children.
You can next catch Adam on Gardeners’ World tonight (Friday, August 1) from 8pm to 9pm on BBC Two.
