I’ve had this heart leaf philodendron for 5 years and when the vines started getting long I hung them up but the leaves always drop. The leaves closer to the plant that have rooted themselves to the wall stay happy but wherever the leaves hang always end up dropping. I had it in the same pot for 4 years and thought maybe it needed a repot but the roots were super thin and short when I repotted it. I water regularly and that window is a south facing window. I’m at a loss how to keep its leaves.

Not enough light reaching the parts that are dropping leaves, probably. Hard to fix without grow lights
Light is their source of food, so less light means they can’t support as many leaves. It could also be a combination of that along with watering issues, but my guess is that lack of light is the main reason.
The main plant is in the dark in the corner not getting enough light to support itself and you’re trailing the arms even further away from the light.
Please stop what ur doing and take care of the plant! It seems to be dry or overwatered but I say too dry can’t mist the long vines and not enough moisture so they drop em. Chop back or wrap plastic wrap with damp sphagnum around mid vine nodes to get water to the entire vine evenly.
Inconsistent watering. Figure how long it takes the pot to dry out and dont be late more than a day or two.
Ya my theory is the vines are too long and not getting enough light or nutrients. It’s a long way for them to travel. A pothos might be more suited to this style of long vines hung up all over. They are a little more forgiving.
Also, the fact that the roots were thin and short tells me something as well. My philodendron usually have massive root structures. So you may want to let us know what type of soil you are using, any food or fertilizer if you’re using it, and what’s the light situation as well. This will be helpful to make a diagnosis.
