I am an absolute newb to terrariums, but I found this olive oil container at a thrift store and thought it would make a fun decoration and possibly a small terrarium/ pondwater jar. Would something like this work? I'm imagining placing things inside will be much more difficult, and the cork doesn't seem to form a complete seal ( I am unsure if this matters for terrariums). I am looking for recommendations on what might work (build materials and plants), things to look out for/ be careful with for this specific container, and also any fun ideas on what to put on the inside glass section.

I have that exact same jar and have had a lot of experience building jar terrariums and I’m still to nervous to try this one out. So kudos to you for taking a leap.

    Its definitely possible…

I have had luck in the past using a bit of plastic wrap on the cork to protect it from moisture and add to the sealing of a jar before. You can trim it to size. You could also plug it with the plastic wrap around it then burn it at the edges with a lighter. But thats riskier as it may melt past the glass and I would only do that for one I do not plan on opening again. I did it once for gifts I gave out so it was a cleaner edge.

You can definitely make a terrarium with it, though you’d need to make improvised tools to real into the bottom parts. I think SerpaDesign did one, though not in this exact bottle but another vinegar/oil bottle
