Renowned gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh has given a rare insight into his private life as he has admitted he and his wife “might not make it”.
Imparting his gardening insights over the years, Alan has become one of the most respected names in the industry. Having built his reputation over a number of decades, many will know him for his vast array of gardening programmes including Ground Force and Gardeners’ World.
After calling time on his presenting duties on Gardeners’ World and handing over the role to Monty Don, his career has continued to flourish with a number of TV shows and gardening books to follow.
More recently, the green fingered guru has branched out and started to impart his gardening advice on his own YouTube channel as well as hosting his own show, Love Your Weekend, that sees him interview a range of celebrities.

However, by his side to see his various career achievements down the years, has been his wife, Alison. With the couple soon set to mark their golden wedding anniversary, Alan recently shed light on their time together.
During a recent interview with Saga magazine, Alan revealed his plans to treat his wife of five decades, saying: “I said, ‘I need to buy you a bit of gold’. Alison said, ‘I’ve got enough. I don’t need any more’. She’s the most non-materialistic person I’ve ever met.”

While he said that she isn’t looking for any lavish gifts to mark their stunning milestone, he jokingly quipped “we might not make it” as he gave a rare view into their relationship, saying: “I suppose we will do something, but we haven’t done any planning yet – we don’t want a big party.”
He added: “It’s amazing that we have lasted for 50 years. We haven’t got there yet, mind. We might not make it. Take nothing for granted!”

After first meeting at an amateur dramatics group back in the early 70s, the pair would soon go on to start dating before later tying the knot in 1975.
Since then the pair have had two children together, Camilla and Polly. Worth a whopping estimated £10 million, the pair currently live at a stunning Grade II listed Georgian farmhouse in Hampshire as well as owning a seaside home on the Isle of Wight.
