if you’ve got dull pruning tools I’m going to show you two easy ways to get them nice and sharp for the spring so you can see here we have all of our pruning tools laid out and they’re really really dull supplies you’ll need today a multi-tool or some type of pliers your sharpening tools and one of them is just a Corona sharpening stick a sharpening tool and the other one is a handheld sharpener so your pruners are going to look something like this or maybe like this you’ll need to take them apart using a multi-tool and maybe a couple different screwdrivers this model is really easy all you do is just take it apart by unscrewing this piece right here this nut right here here is your blade you can see here it’s got some gouges in it so one of the tools you can use is the Corona sharpening tool and what you’re going to use is this right here you’re going to just take this surface this flat surface you’re just going to run it across like this about 4 or five times matching as best you can that angle on your blade and then what you’re going to do because there are going to be Burrs on the other side from that sharpening you’re just going to take this and put it flat against the blade and just run this across this like that a couple times and you should be good to go you can always check your blade that way oh yeah a lot sharper okay the other tool you can use is another handheld uh sharpener and this one’s really unique it’s got two different ways to sharpen blades one’s for a single-sided blade a sharpen blade like you see here and the other one is for a double-edged blade a two-sided blade so since this is a single-sided blade we’re going to use this side and what we’re going to do is is we’re going to match up this flat side side with this flat side and then the angle side with the angle side on here and then I’m just going to pull through give it about three or so swipes and then check to see how sharp it is oh yeah wow that is razor sharp now if you can’t get your hand printers apart and you still want to sharpen them you can still do that and you can still use both of these tools match the flat side of the tool to the blade surface and then just bring it towards you for a couple of SW ppes just like this and then make sure to also get those burs now if it’s with this tool it’s a little bit trickier because again you’re going to have to match that flat side of this to this and you can’t really get it in there it’s pretty hard to get it in there so you might not be able to sharpen this all the way but you’ll be able to do maybe about half that blade and then hopefully that gets it sharp enough for you
