MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Olbrich Botanical Gardens announced that one of its corpse flowers started blooming on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, the gardens stated the plant reached about 7 feet before it opened up.
When the flower blooms, it brings along with it a putrid stench of rotting flesh. The smell attracts natural pollinators like carrion beetles and flies.
The plant will be on display for the public on Thursday, July 31, through August 2.
