Hi,
I'm very new to terrariums in general but i do have some general knowledge. i recently had the idea of creating an open terrarium inside of an old 70s tv that i found at my grandparents house (tv pictured). i've looked around the internet of the steps of what to do but unsurprisingly there isn't much of people doing this. so my plan is to spray expanding foam to create a base and then i'm kinda lost after that haha. i have in my mind that i want it to look similar to a couple of the pics i found here and the internet, i’ve attached those, will maybe have grow lights also but unsure if that's possible or not. i also had the idea of having a resin water pond/feature in the terrarium like in a couple of the pics but again unsure if that's possible. so i would love some help and advice of what to do basically haha.

This would be so amazing, I sincerely hope you do it. I think it will need a grow light, which will add to the ‘plants on television’ effect.

I do think you might need a 3” tall strip of Perspex to hold it all together if you plan on having it as a bio active terrarium also make sure you have low light plants and moss as not to burn kill them with a grow light I would also look into using black expanding foam to create the background and use aquarium safe silicone to plug the gaps

No still can keep it open the stip would be at the bottom so you don’t have springtails or wood lice roaming you’re house

For bottom I would use pond liner, fill the back with expanding foam and silicone or xaxim plates. Cover the pond liner with filter foam or drainage layer with leca/ gravel.

There is a YouTube video made last week about turning one into an aquarium while retaining the front glass. It’s fairly involved but the end result was amazing
