She’s alive! I just got my first croton. What killed her initially? Any tips/dos and don’ts are welcome!

It happened to me last year with my potted fig tree. I was convinced it was dead so I dumped it in a corner of my garden until I had time to empty and clean the pot and procrastinated a few months. When I finally got back to it I found it alive and well, having survived on rainfall all summer. Nature is impressive.

My croton’s name is Roach because nothing will ever fully kill him

Awesome! When you say watered the twigs do you mean you kept watering the soil or literally gave moisture to the stems?

Mine just died recently. This gives me hope.

Had the exact same situation: died in a week, watered the soil anyway when I thought I saw a hint of green and she’s doing okay putting out new leaves! Not as far advanced as yours though, looks great!

🙂 I guess it didn’t really die. My snake plant keeled over suddenly and I can’t make myself trash it. The only plant I have left is an incredibly lively spider. My cat loves to chew on it. They say it isn’t poison, though it’s mildly druggy. Low-dose catnip.

  9. My dracena does this. Looks dead, then I prop and chop. And then gorgeous again. Congrats!
