I was honestly sceptical that is was alive. I havent even planted it, only misting and wetting the roots.
Anyone have ideas for what mix to plant it in?
I also need to find a way to stabilise it, since there are so few roots.

I don’t have advice. I just want to say this is awesome I hope you update often.

Most of what I’m reading is saying they like well draining soil. So something like a cactus mix.

They’re also apparently very similar to succulents. They’re used in Bonsai too so there’s plenty of information out there on keeping them indoors.

I would buy this from you. My friend started a baobab hydration powder company and buys tons of fruit from Africa. I’d love to gift something like this to him.

No pressure though, I realize how freaking cool that is. Please post updates! Congrats!

  4. I have one I raised from a seed, mine stays in random soil that I don’t really water often, it gets plenty of sun in a south facing room and I keep it indoors during winter if temperatures drop below 10C (it will lose its leaves in winter don’t worry about it they’ll grow back)

How to transport baobab to Europe/USA?

P.S. looks like Adansonia digitata and they know to be super viable

I have one too and I have tipps if you want.

Place in a very very sunny place, it loves light. Completely drown it in water and then let it get bone dry before you consider watering it again. When it is bone dry then wait another week for good measure before it gets its food again.

In the winter months it will most probably loose all its leafes and look dead again, but dont you worry, it is just sleeping and will make new leaves again when it is sunny and warm again.

    Enjoy!

I have a bunch of caudex trees and I plant them all in a mix of 50% homemade chunky soil (equal parts cactus soil/perlite/orchid bark) and 50% pumice or pon
