I’ve read the forums and these guys are thought of as being inevitable, indestructible, and just plain bullies.
Just posting here (first post!) as a gripe, grumble, and overall exhaustion fighting the good fight year over year.
Who else here continues to fight rather than just capitulate to the spiky leaved overlords?

I commiserate with you! And so does my weed whacker.
Unlikely they are independent saplings, more likely they are root suckers from a nearby stressed tree. This is common behavior for live oaks. You can keep trimming them, but definitely don’t poison them or you’ll be injecting it directly into the vascular system of the mother tree.
They’re satisfying to pull up!
I wonder if they would survive being potted up and relocated to somewhere more trees are needed?
A friend of mine saves saplings from the compost pile and pots those up, gets about a 50% survival rate while still in the pots… but those are definitely acorns that sprout and not suckers
