If you are doing the entire thing by hand, you might try to rent a sod kicker. Its def easier after a few rains. I didn’t have a vehicle to rent a proper sod ripper or tiller.

Was able to do 60% before it got hot and sunny. Beer break and cooling off in the beer fridge, will do the other 40 towards the evening when it’s cooler
