Hey All,
I bought a variegated Philo Melanochrysum this spring. It only had the bottom 4 leaves. I added it to a moss pole and it took off. As you can see though the first few leaves didn’t develop perfectly but I didn’t want to cut them off. I assumed it was just acclimating. You can see the top leaf developed normally and still has variegation. If I cut the crinkled leaves will new leaves develop? Should I just leave it alone?
I also just received a reverted Philo Melanochrysum. It’s a very crooked baby. I’m hoping to chop and prop it to bring back the variegation. I’m just not entirely sure where to chop. If I can kick start the variegation again I want to add it to my original plant to help thicken it up. I love the big velvety leaves. I obviously want to prop the rest because even the non-variegated plant is stunning. Where should I cut to help encourage it to push out new variegation? Has anyone had any luck with chopping to encourage variegation again or should I assume it’s not going to happen? Thanks for the advice.
