Hey guys. This is my Jalapeño chili. It's on my balcony (facing south-west getting sun all day long) with two other chilis that have been infected with spider mites. Of course they are social distancing while they are being treated but I'm honestly paranoid because this one already has fruits and it's been a pretty rough year to my plants. (As for my watering habit: I give water when the soil feels dry about a few cm down.) So my question: is that a normal spider? If yes, can I leave it on the plant? You can also see a weird white thing underneath one of the leaves on the right on slide 2-4. Maybe that's also something that shouldn't be there

Thank you for your help <3

Update: I just found an aphid in there… why do I currently have to fight off all the bugs known to mankind ??? Suggestions are very welcome

If it has two segments (torso and abdomen) then it’s just a normal spider. If it’s one round segment then it’s a mite

  3. Regular spider. Friend, he’ll eat other pests you might get on the plant. Spider mites are teeeeny tiny.

Ordinary spider that won’t hurt the plant. Spiderman are miniscule & many.

Can’t quite tell on the white bit, could be fluff or scale?

That’s a spider, not a mite. You can ask in r/spiders which kind if you’re curious , but mites much smaller than this.

I had the same one on a basil leaf. It completely covered itself in a web cocoon so i removed the whole leaf thinking it was a mite about to reproduce. Guess I was wrong. Didn’t think to check here, good thinking OP!
