Unfortunately I had to have my main sewer line replaced today. This is the way my yard was left. The plumbers say that the dirt will settle over time and sink down into the ground.
In the meantime, I have a huge mess. With my dog, and us going into winter in a few months, what should I be doing to help this along? Can I plant grass seed? Do I just leave it alone? And what about the ruts in the yard? I was thinking of moving some of the excess dirt to fill in the ruts and planting grass seed. 🤷🏼♀️
My biggest concern is having a mud pit for a backyard this winter and the mess that will create with my dog.
I'm not opposed to hiring a landscaper for help, but I am being told by neighbors and friends there's nothing I can do until next spring.

Landscape it how you see fit. This looks normal
The biggest problem is the dips where the tires drove. If you’re going to hire help, I would focus on having the dirt re-graded. Then once it’s even you can lay sod and it will be like it never happened.
Rake it leaving a hump. Seed & water a few times a day. It doesn’t take that long for grass to grow & you won’t have dirt & mud all winter long.
What does the contract say? If they included a price to restore the yard they’ll be back.. if not get a rake and a shovel and get to work😂
