This week on Good Day Gardening, we caught up with Paul Thomas, General Manager at Darby Creek Nursery, to talk about something every gardener should know: the difference between planting older versus younger plants.
Using hydrangeas as an example, Paul explained that older plants tend to have a firmer root ball when you remove them from the container. Younger plants, on the other hand, have fewer roots and may be a bit looser in the pot. While both can thrive in your garden, older plants will need more frequent watering at first, since they have more established root systems that dry out faster.
No matter what you’re planting, Darby Creek Nursery is making it easier to save with 50% off all annuals right now. It’s a great time to grab some extra color for your yard or containers before summer slips away.
