We’re doing a trial move up to my parent’s house about 45 minutes away. 12 day gap between our lease being up and closing on a house 🏡🎉 The official move will be all the way from North Texas to Western Tennessee (about 850 miles). Of course we’re moving during the hottest part of the summer 🥵🙏🏼

Please do not put them in a truck for the long move. I just moved mine 2400 miles before it got hot belted into the car… I’m afraid you’ll lose them.
    Good luck!

Just FYI, we did this over the weekend but we rented a sprinter van off Turo in DFW. It was all of $200 for the weekend from Friday at noon to Sunday at noon. The fiddles were nice and comfy in AC the whole time with no signs of stress so far. I highly recommend looking into this option if possible.

Best of luck, moving is stressful! I was in a similar scenario a few years ago. It went surprisingly well after the plants had some rehab time. (I made a monstera cutting that rode in front with me in a water bottle, I ended up regrowing the plant from that.)

Back end of the truck is the bumpier area of the truck. Good luck

I moved fifty plants in the dead of winter from California to Massachusetts. You’re gonna do great!

Do this in the early evening or evening. Leave the back open for an hour or more before loading. Even for a short drive, it will get 120+ degrees in there and zap/stress the plants

Maybe over-buying just a bit????? This is how it starts with crazy cat ladies. “I only have 6 cats”.

Edit: Oh darn – I didn’t read the fine print. But leaving my comment in hopes of comic relief.

Praying for their safe trek. I hope to be moving from CA to TN and dread the thought.

I moved 100 plants from DC to San Jose California in late May in a uhaul trailer. I put as many as I could into the hdx bins from home depot, including hacking up my giant monstera so it would fit. My bird of paradise was the only one that didn’t go into a bin. I then watered the before we began the 5 day drive. We got here with minimal damage, and everybody was still going strong and didn’t need to be watered. They lived in the bins for a few more days until I got shelving to store them temporarily. Two months out from the move and everybody is putting out new leaves, flowering and so on. We had stops in the desert where it was 100 by the time the sun was coming up and I had no real heat stress issues.

You got this! My collection is everything from succulents to south American aroids and epiphytes.

If you aren’t able to take some, I’m in dfw and would love some new plants 😏 best of luck though!

Can you like put a cooler of ice on there and maybe it’ll absorb a tiny bit of heat and create some humidity idk

If mine can survive in a POD for 2.5 months over the summer, yours can survive this!

  19. shaunstudies

Honestly… get a U-Haul ubox in October and move the plants then

If you you stop for food/gas, open the back to let the hot air out!
