I'm almost certain I accidentally broke this off when repotting my plant today but the end looks dry already? Can I use the aerial roots as the roots in soil ? (I'm sorry I have no clue and the internet has too many suggestions).

The main plant is thriving for the most part. I have great sunlight in my apartment, and I water once a week trying to make sure the soil is damp (fingers crossed it survives my repotting)

If I have to just put it in water how do you suggest I do that best ? I've seen so many different ways.

Thank you for your help 🌱😭

  1. Looks to me like you have the start of 18 more vines πŸ™‚

I have had success just popping a broken stem in rain water or distilled water and eventually potting it. You have to keep the potted plant very very moist at first.

I’d clip and prop each one separately

Personally I’d trim each leaf at a node and water propagate.

I am having tons of fun propagating my one at work that is rooting like crazy in both water and moist sphagnum moss. In my experience it’s not picky about water type.

I just chopped and propped a vine just like this. In about two weeks sitting in full shade in the middle TN heat and humidity, and different nodes have already put out new leaves. I just now added root hormone for some extra oomf while changing the water. When it’s sitting outside, I have the mason jar inside a pot to keep the roots from producing chlorophyll
