Giving the double wide some curb appeal with a stucco block wall, wider steps, and more plants 🌾

Listen, we have been on the grind over here trying to give this double wide some curb appeal, but it’s the rainy season and it’s not on our side. Typical Florida weather. It’s been storming every single day. So, we try to get out here in the morning and get as much done as we can, but you can only do so much. And when you’re doing stuff like concrete and stucco, it might get washed away from the storm. Yeah. So, let me tell you, it is not fun when you have to redo. You guys know I love to repurpose things. So, most of these cinder blocks are from the old trailer that was removed. I think I counted 30. We just added some caps and now we’re putting stuckco on them and it’ll give it a nice cohesive look. Now, this is the largest garden that I think I’ve ever had to deal with. So filling it in with the plants and having it not look sparse and kind of all fit together is going to be a challenge. Our home is 76 ft long, so that’s how big the garden is. We tried to get things that didn’t need a lot of maintenance and could tolerate the full sun and also that the deer were not going to feast on. I’m hoping soon that we have some days without rain. That way we can connect the concrete pad over to the bottom of the steps over here and have a landing for now. Here’s how it all turned out. I love the cable rail on the steps. That’s our first time doing that and it actually was super easy. And as far as the plants go, I woke up this morning and the deer took a big chunk out of the iris. So, I know I’m probably going to have to switch that out and get something else.

  1. Grows well in FL zones:
    Moringa
    Frangipani
    Aloe
Pineapple (takes 2 years to produce the fruit and it’s a pretty fill in)
Bolivian Sunflower (great for chop and drop)

  2. Wow just love it . Beautiful ❤️.The plants are eventually going to fill in all the gaps , why not try to plant some annuals in planter boxes and hanging baskets suitable for the climate , which will help add some seasonal colours . ❤

  3. Very nice looking job, you guys did! The deer here in North Central Arkansas have been my biggest complaint this year. They absolutely destroyed by eating, my hydrangea bushes!

  4. The ornamental grass is beautiful, but make sure you pull the seeds off when they grow up because they will drop and they are wicked hard to get out of the ground. The plant is huge. We had to use an ax
To break the grass up when it was grown .

  5. just put up a fence for your front yard, it’ll keep the creatures out and be a safe place for your kids to play

  6. I have a lot of trouble with deer and I use solar motion detecting lights and they have left my hostas alone ever since I installed them.

  7. Hostas do good they come back each yr.and day lilies do too some ginger plants will be good to you make shampoo from the ginger plants

  8. Deer spray (many brands, referring to the ones that smell like rotten eggs when applied) does work. It absolutely does. Just needs to be kept up if rain or high humidity.

  9. you can grow rosemary , lavender, ornamental onion, even Russian sage. Those are mostly deer proof. I also grow daylilies. They have left those alone.

  10. Where can I find an opportunity like this? My husband and I don't have great credit but awesome income, we have 5 kids so space is tight but we are over on the west coast of Florida.
