   Fresh homegrown potatoes also taste much better than store bought ones. It’s something people have no idea about until they try them. All I can say is the homegrown ones taste much much better.

   Nice! I grew mine in pots and grow bags this year. Happy with my harvest. I was so surprised to find some of them were already sprouting, so I planted them back into the containers…hadn’t planned on that. But the pots are close enough that if we get an earlier frost/freeze i can pull them under the overhang!!

   I tried something new this spring, after watching one of your videos where you showed growing potatoes in boxes. So I planted one Russet potato to about 6" in soil in a very large pot. Then I put a cardboard box over it and filled it with a combo of used and new straw, approx 6"-9" deep, and a thick layer of straw around the box at the base. I just pulled it up and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the harvest. My only issue is they have a slight scab issue, but are totally edible per what I have read. I put 5 more similar plantings of Russets at the end of one garden bed, 6"-9" deep in the soil with equal depth of straw. Can't wait to see how they do… but they still have blooms and are very green.

   I planted my Yukon Golds in the ground at 9" depth. I put a trench between the two rows filled with straw, because straw retains moisture well. They aren't ready to harvest yet, either. All planted at the same time, too.

   I almost tried potatoes this year, but I was worried it wouldn't work in my tough soil. Even if they grew, I figured I'd crush them trying to dig them out. Maybe I'll try a small batch in containers.
