See this garden? Nice and open. Lots of sky. But she wanted something cozy like this or this or this. Now, it’s impossible to create a cozy garden in an open path like this or easy. Here’s what I’m going to do. So, I’m going to create a central reflecting pool and surround it with a cute pathway as well as a deck. Then, I’ll surround the pool with some benches and plants and create a secret path to another part of the garden. This gives a sense of focus towards the pool as well as exploration creating mystery. Here’s how it looks like. So, even though I’m not building walls or using a million tall trees to surround my garden, it still gives a sensation of closeness and coziness. This is because coziness is created by narrowing your senses and reducing the sensory overload. So, when our eyes are focused towards the trickle of the fountain and the very private pool, we feel cozy even though the garden is still wide open. Here’s the before and the after.

i just know you have a very well organized system for your 3d printed furniture
You are the bomb Cliff ❤
I’m certain the sound of the fountain will also help create a calming atmosphere with the different senses, there is something magical with the sound of water.
These videos are incredible for learning about the art of feng shui,
but I don’t see a lot of chatter about the art (and struggle!) of quick and easy to read perspective drawings!
It’s super educational for the artists watching, including me! 😀
seeing the drawing process in this (albeit sped up) real-time video is super helpful for understanding these scenes being drawn in these sometimes very dramatic, almost fish-eye perspectives.
Which makes it easy to use these pieces as references for our own artwork
Just wanted to give another shout out to Mr Dearmoderns channel for being so educational (and filled with talent!) overall :)))
Your artistry is beyond measure, you are sooooo talented!! Congrats on your dedication and hard work, fulfilling peoples' dream spaces!!
I Always apply your suggestion to my sims buildings
careful buddy. I might be better at this part than you.
Do more yards please!
Ohh could we do it with less bricks and more plants?
As much as I love doing architect art ….this guy always amazes me 🤌🏻
Yes! The best way to add coziness to a space is to block off your vision to the rest of it and control the views!
As an amateur gardener: more plants is usually the right answer, but it's not the answer for everyone
❤ hope she does it
🤑
Would like to see more gardens. They are under fine in Fengshui videos but I'm more gardens oriented.
FL home right there
Why are people talking about landscaping and interior design in the comments? I'm confused
Great explanation 🥰
Thank you from all the other Florida/subtropical homeowners!!!!
I'm learning more from you than my profs on this subject. ☺️
Mr. Tan, do you play Animal Crossing? Because I bet you'd make some of the FINEST Islands and interiors on that game 🤩
I'm sorry, the land you own is too big? Oh, poor baby, you must be struggling. 😒
From my point of view, she got an expensive garden but it didn't look expensive enough.
That lesson on "coziness" though… I live for this.
Doing outdoors is absolutely amazing! <3
I would say even more repartitions.
OMG you're doing landscapes!! Our garden is a nightmare and I'm so stuck on it! We purchased the plot of land bordering our garden but now it's just.. two separate gardens and I can't figure out a way to combine them due to unfortunate placements of trees and garages and aaaaargh!
If she doesn't like the house I can live in it
I feel like plants or short trees behind the palms, and a sunken in rear pool would increase the cozy factor too
How did you learn to draw like that? Im so curious 😭 they look so good
Rich ppl problems
"what it looks like" or "how it looks." NOT "how it looks like." Bad grammar.
Cliff Tan is in his Monty Don era
His drawing skills 🤯
Yessss gardening is my lifeblood I would love to see you do more outdoor spaces
"Or is it?" Vsauce music plays
You are so talented. Love your videos.
Great!🌴⛲️🌱💚
Would love an ai generated render of your yard design. I have this same problem with a big open plain yard
Wants a small garden, blessed with a big one – such is life, eh?
DearModern has escaped to the outside world, now NO ONE IS SAFE!!!
This is so beautiful! Wow❤
Use Ai
Stupid clown
I'd love to see the real life after. Your videos are so great!
Oh my gosh yeah! It's all perspective and affecting the senses! Thank you! I'll keep this in mind.
