Weed torch. Kill it with fire. Scrape with a flat shovel.

String trimmer or you can try a propane torch.

Weed whacker will offer a short term solution, but it will grow back relatively quickly. Will probably end up needing to whack about 1-4 times a month depending on precipitation and sun levels throughout the year.

You can lay a tarp over it for 2 months, the weeds will die guaranteed. You still have to do something with all the dead weeds sitting there after, though

  5. You can use a weedwhacker, but you’ll need to repeat it a few times during the growing season.  Spraying will be more effective and you only have to do it once.  I don’t like spraying, but for something this overgrown, I would do it.

Trimmer to cut it all level, tordon with a pump sprayer. You don’t have to be precise with the tordon. Just spray the whole patio

I have had some minor success with horticultural grade vinegar spray on a hot sunny day, and a flame werder separately. I agree with everyone here: manage with a weed whacker or re-set them with a weed barrier, nothing lasts forever.

Personally, I would glyphosate it, but if I were against chemicals I would use a torch. The torch is more fun anyways, but you will likely have to use it more often than a spray.

Vinegar, salt and dawn (if it’s not raining). It will dry everything in 2-3 days – torch it afterwards.

Pressure washer. There are youtube videos that will show you the proper techniques and settings.

I’m obsessed with the videos on TikTok of people shaving it all off in quick strokes with a flat shovel. Try that. Report back. 😂

  12. None of the above.
Boil kettles of water and pour it on the weeds.

Propane torch, then scrape the edges of the bricks out (we used a flat head screwdriver) and then fill the gaps with polymetric sand. Use a sealer. Only have to do this once every few years. Pull any weeds that emerge as they pop up. Spot scrape out and refill polymetric sand as needed.

Sorry, can’t resist… it’s spelled “nozzle,” not nosal.

I saw a technique recently in progress at an arboretum where they had clearish plastic laid down flat over a wide area and it heats up like a greenhouse and kills everything underneath.

7 oz Bastile soap, 1 gal 20 strength white vinegar, put both in a sprayer and shake to mix. The sprayer keeps the mixture on target. Certainly better than pesticide.

  17. I have a similar walkway and treat it with the vinegar/salt/dawn spray. Kills everything then just pull them. Does the trick. I don’t have a flame thrower but even if I did mine is too close to the house for my comfort.

  18. It all green and soft. You would be surprised how much you’ll get done with a powerwasher.
