I did a fire pit area with a good amount of thick weed fabric underneath but to no avail, weeds and grass have constantly blasted through. The picture is just from me spraying it, but I’m looking for a more permanent solution to stop the weeds. I’ve used mainly marble chips for the rocks. Would putting in down some more all-purpose gravel that’s smaller help prevent the weeds from poking through?

I just sprayed vinegar all over similar fire pit rocks and it killed all of the weeds and grasses growing there.
You don’t really prevent it. You just manage it
This would be so much fun with my weed torch!
Caseron cast thoroughly.
Burn them with a propane torch
In my personal opinion landscape paper is useless. All it does is collected curious on top and now we have weeks growing on top of the plastic paper that’s not good for our environment or anything else for that matter. Obviously doesn’t work. Remove the paper use a propane torch it works really well.
Bigger fire should solve it. If not build bigger fire.
Mixture of salt, vinegar and detergent.
Note: this will mess with the soils ph levels and can affect surrounding plants.
Edit: spelling
As I’ve said in many other comments- weed fabric is useless and in fact is harmful. Nice to see another real life experience further proving it.
Sorry for your struggle. Weeds will always get through. And other weeds will simply land on top of it and take root.
Weeds will come through gravel as well. Our fire pit loads up with weeds. There is no “get rid of them forever” plan, as weed seeds will blow in from all round.
Your best solution is a weed torch. It will last far longer than pulling them will and save your back a lot of trouble. It will not poison the ground. It is the safest, cleanest, longest lasting, lowest work, lowest cost solution to weeds, and when its in a rocky area like yours, also has a low risk of fire. Even so, its always good to have a kid or partner or friend standing by with a hose.
Theyre gonna come back.
Youre going to have to weed.
Please do not use round up.
Torch it.
More fire
Fire?
Fire
Spray with vinegar. It’ll keep it at bay.
Have you tried fire? I picked up a cheap weed burner at Harbor Freight that goes on a 20 lb tank. It works great at killing the weeds in the rocks around my backyard fire pit, without using any herbicide. Also works great at starting a campfire.
Boiling water from a kettle. Cheap, efficient, and easy. Also non toxic
Vinager or flame torch.
When weeds appear, pour boiling water on them – which also instantly kills the roots. Boom. (Just not near plants you want to keep, or stones/bricks you don’t want to crack.)
I’m dealing with this same ordeal on a riverstone garden path (“a path! A path!” Sorry, bad MPython reference, sorry). Kneep.
Mix vinegar and a splash of water in a garden spray cannister and hit the weeds well. They will be gone in 24 hours. Hoe or rake out and/or pull out easily when there’s nothing left to hold them in. Add some new clean stones, rake to settle a bit, and monitor.
Vinegar I’ve found is the atom bomb to many weeds. Use sparingly, though, as it will absorb into nearby soil and affect everything around it if sprayed to aggressively. Kneep.
Bruise them with a landscape torch. The cellular damage poisons the plant. Also can use torch to light your fire pit.
Propane torch, the one place with nothing to accidentally burn

Kill weeds with … weed killer.
Spray with a mix of Glyphosate and Surflan. The former kills existing weeds and the latter prevents new weeds.
Sprayer. 90% vinegar. Salt. Dish soap.
*maybe, wood ash under them rocks ?
First you’re going to want to rip everything out by hand. Next course of action will be to start a small, but responsible, forest fire on the area you no longer want weeds. Now give that about 10 days time, feeding it constantly with gasoline and explosives. You’re going to be left with some dirt and don’t be fooled. For heavens sake it’s all just begun….
Stage 1.1 will be chemicals. Drive to your local big box and farm stores and purchase the following:
3 gallons of salt
5 gallons of kill weed stuff
1 candy bar for yourself
Take these and dump them all over the area. Maybe do the salt and weed stuff separate over a few days I’m not sure this is all made up.
I’m no scientist but at this point you should have no weeds. Proceed to enjoy this for 2 days or until the next rain and then promptly repeat. Or don’t who knows.
Rock salt
Pull them when they are small.
