GARDEN CITY, Idaho (CBS2) — MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Meridian Police Department arrested Daniel Atchison at approximately 8:30 p.m. following a kidnapping incident in Garden City. The Garden City Police Department expressed gratitude to the public and the Meridian Police for their assistance in locating Atchison.

Atchison is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on July 24, 2025, at the Ada County Courthouse. The arrest follows a kidnapping report on July 22, when Garden City police responded to a call on the 5100 block of Sawyer. Officers discovered that the victim had escaped from the suspect, who had fled the area.

According to police, Atchison, who was known to the victim, forced them into a vehicle at gunpoint from a business parking lot. He then compelled the victim to drive around the area for several hours before returning to the original location of the kidnapping. The victim managed to escape and sought refuge in a nearby business, where employees protected them until police arrived.

Atchison fled the scene in a 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan with Idaho license plate 1AIG77U. He is described as a white male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 220 pounds, with brown/gray hair and green eyes. Authorities considered him armed and dangerous and advised the public not to approach him.

The Garden City Police Department had been seeking public assistance in locating Atchison, who was believed to be traveling to Garden Valley or Caldwell, Idaho, or possibly Eugene, Oregon.
