Id have probably anchored then into the ground with threads and a small footing with them offering retention to that earth behind. Wouldnt use green sleepers either they rarely last more than 3 winters – customers budget often dictates such thinhs tho so all in all lobely job
Yeah.. very good.. ive installed thousands of linear metres of softwood sleeper over 20+ years but, I don't like them…this whole cheaper alternative to brick or some other stone walling I feel is a misnomer… if a customer wants them then ill build them around a garden design but for longevity, brick or stone, properly installed, will easily outlive timber, by decades.. I don't care how much black jack you cover them in…by the time you've put them on some sort footing, ponced around with brackets, black jack, treating the end cuts, timber locks all over the place, membrane etc and replaced them 10 years down the line because theyve started to rot, which they will, im not sure they are cost effective .. I also think nicely pointed brick work looks better great big chunky lumps of wood..HOWEVER, my personal feeling about sleepers doesn't detract from what I can see is a great job..👍
I wouldn't have it done it like that. I would of done it any other way than you have. I can't tell you why or how but that's shit. Needs improvement. 😂
Drives me mad these being called sleepers, they aren't, they are just thick pieces of softwood timbers. Real sleepers, such as the ones I am currently installing on a project, now they are the real deal, 90kg a piece of hardwood f-ing misery to fit, at least my boy is about this summer to help me, the last 10 I did on my own was not the best fun I have ever had.
People who don't do construction will never know the hardship of it….. The exhaustion…the dust ….the cuts nicks slices . It's a tough life …. Respect to all tradesmen and labourers ❤
Fonish job looks amazing . Could i ask a question , you painted a barrier behind before backfilling. But didnt paint a barrier down side of steps where cement base and blocks were used . 🤔
Anything with ground contact wont last. Better hiring a bricky. Probably cheaper than a 30k landscaper. Youre actually paying 2 3 grand a year for a nice garden for 10 years that you only enjoy 4 months of the year. Do the math.
I did sleepers in a old garden of mine, and they do look great but after a few years they get weatherd, as much as you try restraints hidden in the beds etc they still do tend to twist, warp, and move with time, so keeping a crisp clean look over time tends to fade.
If it came with a good soaking in chromated copper arsenate it'll last and last. This one didn't as it's not the right colour. I had a cat that used to scratch some logs and that cat lived to be seventeen and three quarters.

Wow
Am surprised you didn’t pour a footing for them sleepers
At least half bond your block
It will last about 1/5th of the time it took the customers to save the money to pay for it.
Soft wood sleepers look nice for about 8 months then decay sets in
Other comments already mentioned the footings so I won’t, but I did notice there’s no soak away?

You lads be long gone even if left untreated. Incised should keep them going .
Soft wood 9 years.
I know as iv just replaced some I used for raised beds, they were totally rotten.
The foundation could of been better with concrete and dowels, but I think there is no winter here.
Absolutely decay ,waste of money putting those in
Shit i gówno robota👎👎👎👎👎👎
10 years and those sleepers will be rotting. Waste of money.
Masonry walls are what's required and no render either.
Pressure treated softwood usually lasts around 10 years, will last even longer if treated again every 3 years
Let’s come back in 18 months time & take a look!!
0 drainage behind them sleepers

Sleepers on cement with no protection no no ko
would treating in between them not make a good difference to how long they last ?
Looks good, but dont you think sleepers on concrete will rot them quicker?
Why not just build a brick wall, last a lifetime
Me alegra ver aún albañiles blancos y no escoria tercermundista
Looks great but I'd rather spend a bit more on stone or concrete
Try safety glasses when using a skill saw???? Duh

Absolutely gorgeous work love it 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
F’kin raised beds are amateur landscaping ffs
Lucky if you get a decade. And that's if the job is done proper and they are well looked after. Look nice though.👍
Drainage?

Who cares, I didn't pay for it and it ain't mine 🙂
Gotta love cats 😂😂😂
