With the help of this sub and some dedication, we got the lawn to a place I can be proud of.

Dethatching (sorry not sorry), top dress, pre-germinated seed, and fert. Now we have the lawn looking good in western Canada.

Man. Sorry for your loss. It looked so good.

Even the lawn in the background looks better too! What you’re doing is contagious!

Dethatching a thin scalped cool season lawn is effective because you’re essentially scarifying it. But there’s no thatch to speak of.

What seed did you use and what was your process for the pre-germinating?

    How did you apply it?

Great results. Just super curious on your process to this success and if you felt pre-germinating really changed the game for you.

    Googling “pre-germinated seed”…

  6. Nice work! I guess I’m getting old since I like to see a nice yard especially mine when I’m fine tending to it!

That looks great. What seed brand are you using?

Going forward… aerate, top dress, seed and water. Also, Grubex in the spring and mid-summer. Fertilize in the fall and early spring. Result = turf.

Looks great! But I have to say, I more admire the ODR across the street!

    I am in envy.

I have so much to do with the trash lawn I inherited.

It needs several inches of soil as there is almost none. And then I need to overseed the crap out of it during the swing season between summer and frozen. (First frost here is typically early October)

Did you also to the patch across the street? Looks like they did nothing and got the same result ?
