Even though the leaves are in rough shape I'm so proud of my little plant, it's otherwise very healthy and starting to bloom! I thought at first it was a white variation but it's definitely a flower upon closer inspection. I've never had a plant bloom yet so this is very exciting for me lol.

Not to burst the bubble, but I’ve read that inflorescences can be a good sign or bad sign depending on the health of the plant. The only Alocasia I have that produced one is also not one that’s in the best shape. One leaf has yellow spots and it had one that just never unfurled (both existed when I bought it). The plant had significant root rot after I moved it into water and it’s improving now, not I don’t think that inflorescence was a good sign in my plants case.

Just don’t take it off though and I’m sure you’ll keep an eye on it either way, as I did because it’s different! 😊

Can you describe your care process a little if you have time? My alocasia isn’t dying, but hasn’t produced any new growth since I got her 3 months ago 😭

My alocasia pink princess put out 2 blooms a few months ago. It was putting out new growth in a steady manner, seemed (and still seems) to be thriving! I let the blooms stay till they withered, then cut them off and a new leaf is already coming. Yours must be happy too!

I love that it’s right in the smack dab center, front and center

  6. With my alocasia and colocasias, I cut off the blooms so they’ll put energy into more or larger laves and bulbs.
