Glyphoosphate the entire yard, wait a week. If anything is still alive then do it again. Then wait another week or two and plant seed or sod. Water profusely. And in the spring plant more seed. Use a pre-emergant like tenacity to prevent crabgrass from growing with the new seed

Embrace the crab. No maintenance and always green!

Nuke in late summer and then seed in the fall.

  5. Looks identical to my lawn! I am in Bergen County. My lawn is 85% crab grass. I was way more upset a few weeks ago, but realized that it does make the lawn look thicker and greener. I just mow it down to 4. The biggest complaint I have is that it tends to grow faster and wilder than my grass.

I thought you have to wait 3-4 weeks between Glyphoosphate and seeding?

The issue that i just found with using preemergent is that you may not be able to grow new grass., i put barricade on my lawn to stop the nutsedge and barnyard grass… it worked ok. However it did wonders on the dirt spots… nothing grows there, not even the grass i tried seed in that area twice this year… I’m hoping the barricade stops working by September

One section of my property is all crabgrass, about 3000sqft. I mow it as low as I can during the hottest part of the day and bag clippings. Doesn’t look any worse than common bermuda in my opinion (which looks like shit). It all dies in the fall and winter weeds take over until the next spring.
