Hi everyone, gardener Steve here sitting in the middle of my housecap berry patch. Very excited because today is a picking day. Look at these beautiful berries. Here they are just hanging on the bushes. Let me just lift this up and show you how beautiful they are in there. I’ve got two varieties here. The one in my picking container is Borealis and then up here is Aurora. They’re pollinators and that’s why they name that way. Aurora Borealis. Okay. Why do I grow has ccaps? Why do I think every gardener should grow hascap berries? Because not only are they delicious, they are the highest antioxidant containing berry there is. Better than blueberries. They contain tons of vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium. full of, like I said, the anthocyanin, all those highly colored parts of berries that help to keep us healthy. Another reason that you should grow hascat berry, I think, is because they’re relatively easy to grow. Put a shrub in and in about 3 or 4 years, you’re going to start to get a harvest. These brush bushes are about 7 years old, and I would get twice as many as in my container from each bush. They freeze really well. Use them in your cereal. Use them in your smoothies. They they’re just the most wonderful fruit that you can grow relatively easily in your garden.
