Did I kill my plant?
We used weed killer on the weeds around this mighty elephant ear plant and by the next day, it was laying flat like this. Temperatures are in the high 90’s and it sits in almost direct sunlight all day. Some have said it may just be reacting to the heat. I’m worried it’s dying, however. I’m also worried that, in my attempt to resuscitate it, I’ve overwatered it because the stems are starting to look bruised. I water it with a garden hose for 5-10 mins in the morning. When I checked on it after work yesterday, the soil was still wet.

A “weed” is a human classification. “Weed killer” doesn’t make a distinction between the plants it kills (some do, but that’s not the case here). So yes, if you sprayed herbicide around your plant, it is probably feeling the effects. The stalks curling up like that are a pretty telltale sign of herbicide application.
Dang bummer! Pick some weeds by hand and throw the towel on unnecessary herbicides 👍🏽
That sucks. I’m sorry, I think it died.
Might have to grow back from the bulb if that’s still viable you can check by digging it out and seeing if it’s still firm
I’ve seen a whole ass tree, taller than a 2 story house, die from having the weeds underneath it sprayed with weed killer. This is definitely dead, sorry.
Nah, it’s not the heat, it’s the herbicide. Sorry, it looked like a really nice one too.
If the herbicide got down into the tuber and surrounding soil, it might be gone-gone. If it’s just the stalks and leaves, cut them now and *maybe* you can save the tubers.

What was the active ingredient in the weedkiller? Some are contact, so only kill the leaves they touch, others are systemic and are circulated in the plant’s tissues down to the root.
Buy a hand hoe and some bags of woodchip mulch instead of herbicides!
Not so Smart. Rip
