Do bee balm ignore the whole “first year they sleep, second year the creep, and third year they leap”, because my bee balm really leaped after planting plugs last year. I’m scared to see what this monster turns into next year 😅

It’s actually more commonly referred to as wild bergamot just to reduce the confusion between the other bee balm lol

Last year I got 2 plants from a neighbor. They turned into a dozen this year!

Monarda fistulosa is the scientific name for anyone seeking this out.

I started with one small plant last year, and I have three different huge masses of them this year. I did not realize this is what they do. I had better pay attention next year or they’ll be everywhere! I do love them though. I saw a hummingbird on mine just a couple of hours ago and I was so excited!

My third year bee balm is 6’ tall. It’s crazy.

  6. Last year I planted two or three small single monarda fistulosa that I grew from seed in my vegetable garden. They are huge, I had no idea what I was getting into. I’m going to move them into pots I think.

  7. Beautiful! I moved mine last year and so far they haven’t come up yet 🙁

  8. Wow! Mine are struggling this year. Really hope to have blooms like that one day!
