Friend sent this to me as I work in landscaping. I’m unsure of what it is. The only two that have it are the ones directly on either side of the gazebo door. He said they shaped them today and exposed this damage.
Definitely could be the blight. Not as common as it was several years ago, but it’s still in Chicagoland for sure

Probably fungal. Maybe stress induced. Hopefully not systemic. Maybe copper spray might be good. Check roots for excess water / soil probe. Maybe a mineral supplement.
