While plants and flowers aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when shoppers think of Costco, the chain happens to have a thriving plant and garden section.
Lately, the store has rolled out plants like luckybamboo and a three pack easy-to-grow plant. And Costco isn’t the only one dropping plants this summer. Trader Joe’s has dropped classic herbs for just $2.50 each and more unique blooms like plumeria trees.
In other words, it’s been a summer for plant parents of all levels to pick up plenty of new plants to add to their space.

In case you’re in need of a plant that makes a statement, Costco’s most recently spotted plant will undoubtedly do the trick: red banana plants. With how massive these are, one Costco TikTok user (@Costconew), said that these easily became “the center of attention.”
“New Giant red banana plants at Costco,” Costconew shared. Apparently, these also became an instant favorite because Costconew gushed that “soo many carts [were filled] with these plants [they were] super popular!!”.
As Costconew further showed, there was no shortage of these plants available in Costco’s plant section. They also showed its unique and hearty leaves, including its deep red ones, which fits its name perfectly.
“So pretty!!” one TikTok user commented after seeing this TikTok. On Instagram, users were just as excited about these.

“Beautiful!!” another raved. “Gorgeous,” Costconew reiterated, “so many people had them in their cart.”

To make sure these plants stay healthy, there are a few tips you should keep in mind. If you do get one, make sure to place it in a sunny spot because these love sunshine. You’ll want to make sure the soil feels moist too, and water it if it feels dry.
Now that you know these tips, Costconew says to take this as your sign not to “miss the plant section this weekend!!! at your nearest Costco. Just make sure to double check what hardiness zone you’re in, because experts say these thrive best in zones 8 through 11 outdoors.
