KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Horticulture enthusiasts are invited to explore the All-America Selections Display Garden at the University of Missouri Extension Center in Kirksville.

The tour is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23.

The All-America Selections is a nonprofit organization that tests new plants for home gardeners.

With 200 display gardens across the United States, nine of which are in Missouri, the organization evaluates plants for disease resistance, drought tolerance, productivity and color.

Superior plants are then released to the public for purchase.

The Adair County Garden features 35 different varieties of flowers and vegetables.

Jennifer Schutter, an extension horticulturist, said, “We’re going to be hosting an educational event, and I will be talking about the All-America Selections program, the display garden, the plants. We’ll be holding the presentation inside and then we will go outside for a garden tour and everyone can see the different plants that are growing in the garden.”

No registration is required for the event.

Attendees should meet at the Adair County Extension Office at 503 E. Northtown Road in Kirksville on Wednesday, July 23, at 6:30 p.m.
