Overgrown Backyard Garden Bed Clean Up At Cauley’s Garden Ireland 🇼đŸ‡Ș

hello there and welcome to Co’s Garden It’s a beautiful sunny day here today in the northeast of Ireland Today we’re in the woodland garden patch As you can see in front of me here I’ve got lots of overgrowth of weeds that need to be pulled out of the ground today In here then I’ve planted lots of native Irish trees shrubs wild flowers and crops So you can’t really see them because of the overgrowth of weeds I’m just going to start up here You can see we have the beautiful wild flowers oxide daisies And then we’ve got Hawthorne We have another beautiful Hawthorn which hasn’t produced any berries just yet but it will eventually Then we have the fuchsia And then coming over here we have some hees Lots of weeds lots of tissle dandelion clover I also have some beautiful mint We have a Scots pine Another cedar crest over here over here Then we have the beautiful hookra And somewhere in here I have a beautiful h native Irish tree somewhere Anyway I will dig this all out in a moment and then I’ll show you what’s buried beneath there So just coming over here you can see we have the beautiful red robin and then we have the rose hips which have come into flower So in the early autumn these will produce beautiful fruits which are packed with vitamin C full of antioxidants And then coming over here I also left some brambles um just for the berries It’s great way for attracting pollinators and birds into your garden Then we have the cedar crest which has grown so well over the past couple of years So then come over here you can see we have the beautiful roded dendrum which hasn’t grown as big as I’d like it to do Um I think that’s a soil issue We do have heavy clay on the land So we’re constantly amending the soil adding some compost and native soil and bark and so much more just to bring back the nutrients into the garden Then over here you can see we have some beautiful oxide daisies These are great for attracting pollinators And we have another red robin which has lots of berries And in the hedge row there then I have lots of native Irish trees such as pear We also have hawthornne We have an apple tree So I’m going to be using my fork and my shears for removing the weeds Everything would be done by hand I do not use any chemicals on my land I do everything by hand Um I think that’s the best way to do it Plus you’re adding lots of nutrients into the garden when you do the chop and drop method So I’m going to do this quickly off camera and then I will show you how it’s looking Okay so I just completed one section of this border bed and as you can see it’s looking a little bit better than what it was I managed to pull out this amount of weeds just from this area And I know I mentioned earlier that I was going to do the chop and drop method in here but I’ve decided not to do it this time because I’m going to be planting my rooted red currants that I’ve been growing in water and that will certainly fill in the space Plus it’ll be great for attracting pollinators and birds and it will certainly fill in the space And as you can see here I’ve got lots of ground covers that I didn’t even know I had in here So we have the sage the strawberries we have rosemary So these are great ground covers And I’m going to put a few more ground covers in here such as um daisies I might put in some What will I put in here maybe some creeping flocks I’m not sure yet Haven’t decided But anyways the important thing is to fill in the space quickly before the weeds um you know get an opportunity to do that So all of these um weeds are going into my compost bin over here which I created a couple of years ago and it’s working out really well I managed to get lots of organic compost from here and as you can see it’s empty now because I’ve been using up the compost into different raised garden beds across my gardens So as you can see there’s a lot to be done and I’m not going to complete it today It’s really really hot here today in Ireland and the flies keep wanting to attack me So you know it doesn’t really help But I will do a follow-up video and you can see how well this garden bed has progressed and that will allow me to plant lots of more wonderful edible shrubs in here I hope this video has inspired you to get creative in your own garden and I hope you too will plan for biodiversity and to bring life back into your gardens Thanks very much for watching and God bless
