I bought three air plants some months ago from a garden centre and have had them sitting in a vase by my east-facing bathroom window which gets a lot of sun. I soak and feed them as required and they look okay apart from one black tip. One of the leaves is turning red.

Hey so, I personally dislike keeping Tillandsia in glass because they require proper air circulation and are prone to rot without it. Glass enclosures reduce air circulation and can cause rot. Honestly I would keep them on the shelf over the shot glass. An open glass dish would be better, a wood bowl or terracotta bowl.

My biggest tip for preventing rot in Tillandsia is improve their air circulation. Open a window or point a fan at them.

The black leaf is a bad sign. The red leaf is a bract it’s producing its inflo. It will flower from that structure in the future.
