So my main questions is how can I make sure the house plants are photosynthesizing with out the jar loosing water.
Originally I had a sun lamp on it to act as a the sun. But this caused a lot of water to start dripping off. I currently have a regular LED light on top of it and am wondering if that will let it still work?
I also wanted to ask as I found a few animals to it if they are safe in their. I added 2 small freshwater clams. A few of these red worm creatures 2 underwater snails. And 2 small water skaters.
I am mainly worried about the water skaters as I donât know what they eat if I have them in this jar.
As one more added question what is the best way to secure the plants roots as I tried pressing them down but they keep moving.
Thanks for any answers đ less

Hello,
Congrats on making your first ecosphere. I’ll let some more experienced people comment more about the plants and set-up, but I will advise taking out the water skaters and returning them. Water skaters are predators and they are likely to starve and/or consume all the life in an ecosphere, so they are poorly suited for the environment. Also, if the clams were taken from a riffle (the faster-flowing portion) freshwater stream of a freshwater stream, they should probably be returned too. As filter-feeders, they do require flowing water and won’t do well in an ecosphere set-up. The snails and red-worms (either worms or some sort of larvae of a midge) should do fine in this set-up.
