I think it’s poison ivy, my mom says it’s not. All over my property just north of Pittsburgh, PA (northeast US, zone 6A)

It is definitely poison ivy. It really sucks that it’s all over your property. I have a lot of it too, in wooded areas and along fence rows.

  2. Your mom didn’t try to prove it by touching it did she?

Some people have rented goats to eat poison ivy if they’ve had it all over their property. Idk how big yours is, but if it’s a big area I would recommend considering renting some.

I recommend painting the leaves with triclopyr concentrate on a dry day. I wear gloves, pants, and boots,  and use a brush that’s just for that. Repeat quarterly, you’ll get it eventually!

When I was a teen my mom also didn’t believe me on poison ivy. She pulled it all out barehanded and carried in a big pile with a halter top on. Needless to say after getting out of the hospital she trusted her kid to ID stuff.

Yes it is the way to know it easy, the 3 asymetric leaves and the 2 side leaves are directly attach to the branch without stems and the one in the middle have a stem before the attach point and the leaves are shiny and there is a bit of purple/red on the stem and small leaves!

Poison ivy doesn’t grow in that region of the United States, so go ahead and eat a leaf

Technically I think your mom is right it’s not poison ivy. It’s poison oak.

I’m hyper sensitive to poison ivy, I have no idea what these people are talking about that’s not poison ivy.

Here you are allowed to purchase industrial Round Up for poison ivy. You are probably looking at having to spray religiously for 2 or 3 years to kill it.

I am *knock on wood* immune, but I don’t mess around with it.
