Bit of progress on my very small back garden. Some of you might have seen my previous posts.

Not long ago I asked about pond put ended up just replacing rusting water feature plus added rocks and solar pump. Birds seem to like it. Haven’t seen hedgehogs yet even though there is rock ramp for them to access water.

On terrace I currently have strawberries, chili and basilica. Last image is what I bought vs now. I plan to slowly take more and more area from the grass.

  1. Forgot to mention, this is EU hardiness zone 4, coastal Finland

I am a fan of grasshoppers, but not when they’re acting all *crass*. Nobody wants a vulgar and belligerent katydid.

(just taking a piss, thanks for sharing)

Same here! The capacity for insects to bounce back with just a little bit of a safe haven and some resources is inspiring.

For real, I put in a garden THIS year and have already seen dragonflies that weren’t there last year

Yes I have grasshoppers too this year! First year seeing them. I’m in an urban area.

Me too! It’s been so much fun to see “new” species pop up!

Looks wonderful! Hope you have been enjoying the process (I know I have!)
