I was at Lowe’s this weekend and saw the StaGreen starter fertilizer on sale. Figured I’d pick up a bag for this fall. Well, when I went through the checkout, it flagged the item for a “price confirmation.” The employee saw it and said they couldn’t sell the fertilizer and it had to go back to the mfr or something.
I went back this morning for some more things and figured I’d try going through the regular checkout. The employee scanned it and, without batting an eye, went to grab the next item. No flag or anything, didn’t even question it.
Not sure if this will work at your store. I’m in the north central US. That said, I’m definitely stopping by tomorrow to give it another try!!

I’m going to try this tomorrow at my local Lowe’s and will report back. I’m in SE Michigan. Was it specifically the 14.4lb bag in the pic?
Did it have a different barcode that you noticed on it? Lowe’s is notorious for marking stuff down by a lot when it gets wet, which could have happened to the ones you bought. Sometimes they even label it for a “wet discount” even if the product is barely wet and not ruined in any way.
As someone that very much enjoys using this product I’m a bit jealous. Started a new lawn 3 months ago and past the point of needing it…….damn
It’s called non productive inventory. Most stores should have pulled it this week. It happens with any type of inventory deemed non productive. $.02 is kind of an indicator it should have been pulled already. If they tell you they can’t sell it, you can cause a mild fuss and they will probably fold.
Pretty sure I read before that anything marked as $0.02 at Lowe’s is some type of system indicator and isn’t technically supposed to be on the floor or sold to customers. I remember a thread from someone who was able to buy a bunch of ceiling fans for $0.02 each
