I inherited this Aloe plant from my friend who's mother love plants and the last 5 years of her life she suffered from debilitating dementia. Thats why this plant was so neglected. She was being watered, but thats about it.
She has about 6 or 7 HUGE PUPS that all ended up separating from the soil last night. I'm going to go get new pots and soil today and im hoping i can get some feedback on what I need to buy specifically.
Disclaimer: I'm NEW to all plants. Please explain to me like I'm 5. I want this plant to survive and Thrive. Shes beautiful and shes probably REALLY old.

Also, for context, friends mom who the plant belonged to, passed away and my friend was going to just throw this plant away…so i have a particularly soft spot for this baby.
Get multiple pots. Sandy soil or mix specifically for succulents is best. Repot them all, even if they have 1 or no roots. Press soil down before putting them in. Put them in, water generously, add soil and press around to make sure they are stable. Put them in a shaded area with a bit of indirect sunlight. Water throughly when they soil is dry. It’s hot here so I’m doing it every 2-3days. Dw with they become darker until they grow roots. They will be back to green in 3-4weeks.
Also you can break them in the middle and pot with no roots if they are damaged or too tangled up. It works.
You need to let the plant sit in your home for a week due to different environment and shock.
Once that time has passed completely remove the entire plant from the pot and sort out what’s good, bad and ugly…. Aloes like to be cramped, but within reason. If there are pups (baby aloes) you can either put them with their mother, in separate pots, give them away or throw them out.
If there are nasty looking roots (black and smells bad) remove them…
