So came back from long vacation, came back and our back garden turned itself into mini rainforest, and full of juicy plump wild blackberries 🥰, They're alot and I'm not sure what to do with them, should I freeze them, or homemade jam, pie, looking for your lovely suggestions🙂

Oooh you’ve done really well. Most of the brambles I’ve seen this year are tiny but yours look wonderful.

Enjoy! My vote is for tonnes of apple and blackberry crumble

The silver lining of the pesky bramble.

You’ve done well, the blackbirds have eaten most of mine, on the plus side they appreciate the gift and haven’t shat on my washing yet.

Leave some for the wildlife, especially if there’s so many you can’t use them all

Yes!! My little snack when walking the dogs!

Freeze some! They will rot faster than you realise so I’d wash and freeze a lot of that so you can make crumble in winter

    They look so good! Enjoy!
Blackberry pie is my favourite type of pie so that’s where my vote goes 🥧

Last year I managed to pick 2kg of blackberries from our overgrown garden, the result of 10 years of neglect. They’re all gone now after a concerted clearup effort but a small part of me still misses those thorny bastards

What I did with my haul was add about equal parts sugar and a bit of lemon juice, bring it to the boil in a pan and fucking ruin the lot and then throw it in the bin.

  10. I would freeze some, but you have to make a blackberry and apple pie. I have never tried blackberry jam before. Is it worth buying a blackberry jam from Tesco and giving it a go? Also, as a kid, where we used to live at the bottom of the garden, we had a gooseberry bush. My mum made gooseberry pie and I loved it. Now, gooseberries are underrated, and it is hard to find fresh gooseberries to buy. Have You have a gooseberry bush, as they seem very rare as just like blackberries, they like space and go wild. Happy Cooking.👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Wild blackberries aren’t that great for eating, might be ok for cooking with. Domestic varieties are bigger and sweeter. I’d leave the little ones for the birds, they need them more than us.

Wow you must be down south? I’m in and it’s all flowers here

Make a pie or crumble with blackberries and cooking apples. Best ever!
