I used to have a shrimp dedicated tank but ever since I moved the shrimps to the main tank it sat empty for a couple of weeks.

I watched some YouTube beginner videos from Terrarium Designs and decided to give it a try. I reused the hardscape and used lava rocks for the drainage layer. The got some new spagium moss and coco fiber mixed with old aquasoil for the substrate.

The plants are AR Mini and Tripartita from my aquarium and 2 types of moss I bought for the setup. The moss came with some type of crypt that I threw into the setup.

Added some spring tails and spain isopod. Then I poke some sticks my son picked up last time we went out.

I have an acrylic lid but it's not really air tight.

Anything I should be aware of in terms of caring for this terrarium? I did a dry start for Monte Carlo recently which required spraying and airing the tank every day. Is it the same for terrariums?

Honestly terrarium maintenance is really easy

You don’t need to air it out daily, you can probably get away with once a month/fortnight

Or you can just…never, that is if you don’t have any plant that isn’t attached to the soil, like on a rock such as fern and stuff…if there are such plants then you can probably get some water with ferts and spray it on them after airing out for maybe 20 mins

Since it’s not airtight, you’ll easily get away with no need for airing, just occasional sprays if things look dry
